Furthering my print design experience, I designed the Azahares Spanish Literary Magazine for UAFS, which publishes entries from all around the globe. Azahares translates to “orange blossoms”; wishing to expand my photography knowledge, I bought a cup with flowers that closely resemble orange blossoms and began working to set the scene. The vowels of Azahares have a petite vine decorating the stem stroke of each letterform. On the inner spreads, slices of the front cover photography are displayed on the edges, bringing the exterior design in while also highlighting the page number. Header, author, and type colors are sampled from the cover as well. A watermark was made out of an alternative photo. All design elements and assets are mine, but I was also granted the ability to work as creative director. I managed a team of five people to create the full 80-page magazine design, improving upon my skills of clear communication, time management, and proofreading.
